Quotes

Giorgio Cattaneo, Head of Communication at Continental Italia: “This will be our third year in a row as Main Sponsors of Giro-E’s start village. The Green Fun Village by Continental is a hub of information and fun that can be enjoyed by people of all ages in all the cities of Giro-E.”

Roberto Salvador, Director of Giro-E Enel: “Every year we are very excited to inaugurate a new edition of Giro-E Enel. Doing so with a preview of the Green Fun Village before the beginning of the stages shows how important our start village has become. The inauguration, first with mayor Poli Bortone and then with the DJ set in the evening with internationally renowned DJ and producer Federico Scavo, has been extraordinary, as the Teams Presentation will be. The Green Fun Village has become a cornerstone of Giro-E.”

Adriana Poli Bortone, Mayor of Lecce. “The Giro d’Italia creates a thrilling sense of competition that can be felt by all cycling enthusiasts, thanks to Giro-E’s exclusive e-bike experience. Athletes and cycling enthusiasts will get to experience riding across the route of champions on an e-bike. It’s an opportunity for everyone to follow in the tracks of great athletes and get a first-hand experience of this cycling event. I am proud that Lecce is hosting the inauguration of the Green Fun Village and the first stage finish of the 2025 Giro-E.”

Green Fun Village

Here are the main topics presented by the Green Fun Village in the towns involved in the event:

  • micromobility (e-bikes and electric motorcycles and charging systems);
  • safeguarding the environment (collection and recycling systems, solutions with a small environmental impact);
  • sustainability.

There will be workshops, talks, interviews, games, animations, exhibition stands, bike tests, local engagement activities to involve an audience that is not necessarily fond of cycling as well as a pump track for children with the Lombardo Bikes brand.

Visitors of the Green Fun Village will also be able to enjoy live music played by local bands and interact with athletes and guests for each stage, while at the Green Kiosk they will be able to enjoy the best food and wine of the area thanks to event partner Birra San Gabriel.

Students will be taking part in Biciscuola, an educational project for primary schools located in towns along the route of the Giro d’Italia, Giro-E and all the other races organised by RCS Sport. Biciscuola aims at showing children the importance of cycling and to encourage them to take up cycling, while also discussing issues such as learning about well-being, the environment and road safety. In 2024, over 18 stages, 33,000 children from 1,269 classes that had signed up participated in the event. 415 schoolchildren and 23 classes won prizes.

The Gaming Area of the Green Fun Village is constantly growing; this year it includes:

  • Pallavolo incrociato by Continental
  • Gioco sfida a due by IMATRA
  • GRAN TIRO by Rovagnati
