Giro-E Enel 2026: Teams and Jerseys unveiled

16/04/2026

Giro-E Enel 2026 picks up speed.

Today, at the La Pista Lainate circuit near Milan – home to one of the two ACI-SARA Safe Driving Centers (the other being Vallelunga, near Rome) – the Giro-E Enel teams and their captains were officially presented in an unusual setting for the first and only Grand Tour in the world dedicated to pedal-assisted bikes. However, technology, safety and sustainability are shared themes between the automotive world and that of e-bikes, which has found one of its most representative ambassadors in Giro-E for years.

Special guest of the day was former Formula 1 driver Giancarlo Fisichella, who first treated all Giro-E captains to the thrill of a lap of the circuit aboard the Citroën C5 Aircross SUV, Official Mobility Partner of Giro-E Enel 2026, and later, at dusk, delivered an exciting DJ set.

The event, hosted by Luca Della Porta, Simone Carpanini, Justine Mattera and Stefania Andriola, was attended by Matteo Mursia, Chief Revenue Officer of RCS Sports & Events; Marco Frattini, Head of B2B Italy at Enel Commercial; Giorgio Cattaneo, Head of Communications at Continental Italia; Marco Brachini, Director of Marketing, Brand and Customer Experience at Sara Assicurazioni; Giovanni Falcone, Managing Director of Citroën Italia; Roberto Salvador, Director of Giro-E Enel, and Roberto Pella, President of the Lega del Ciclismo Professionistico.

A total of 27 teams will take part in Giro-E Enel 2026, all of which were presented on stage at La Pista Lainate: 15 Official Teams that will compete in every stage of the event organized by RCS Sport & Events, and 12 Daily Teams that will appear in one or several stages of the only Grand Tour in the world featuring pedal-assisted racing bikes – a truly exclusive two-wheeled experience.

Also unveiled were the three jerseys that teams will compete for in the skill and regularity trials: the Maglia Blu by Enel for the General Classification, the Maglia Arancio by Continental for the Blind Chrono classification, and the Maglia Rossa by Valsir for the Master classification.

Quotes

Matteo Mursia, Chief Revenue Officer RCS Sports & Events:
“For RCS Sports & Events, Giro-E Enel is an increasingly strategic platform to create tangible value for partners and stakeholders. A format capable of combining visibility, engagement and direct experience within a unique context such as the Giro d’Italia. The growth of the project demonstrates how ready the market is for initiatives that integrate sport, innovation and sustainability, offering companies authentic opportunities to connect with an ever broader and more targeted audience”.

Giorgio Cattaneo, Responsible of Communications at Continental Italia:
“For Continental, Giro-E represents an important communication platform to promote and support the value of responsible and accessible mobility for all. Through this unique e-bike experience, we aim to offer participants and fans memorable moments of sharing and enjoyment. For this reason, we will once again take part with our Official Team and will be Main Sponsor of the Green Fun Village, a space designed to have a public dimension and allow us to engage with an increasingly broad and diverse audience. The goal is to showcase our commitment to developing premium products capable of ensuring efficiency, sustainability and safety”.

Marco Brachini, Marketing, Brand and Customer Experience Director of Sara Assicurazioni:
“This year as well, we will take part in Giro-E with our own team made up of agents, employees and clients, led by the experience of Emiliano Cantagallo, to experience the excitement of this challenge first-hand. Being part of this adventure allows us to demonstrate, kilometer after kilometer, our commitment to green mobility and road safety, while also promoting innovative solutions for those who choose alternative means of transport. It is no coincidence that we are here at the ACI-Sara Safe Driving Center in Lainate”.

Giovanni Falcone, Managing Director at Citroën Italia:
“For Citroën, Giro-E represents a natural evolution of a long-standing connection with cycling and, more broadly, with accessible, sustainable mobility that is close to people. It is a unique experience that makes our commitment to more responsible and inclusive mobility tangible, allowing a wide audience to experience first-hand the excitement of the great stages of the Giro d’Italia. Being Official Mobility Partner of Giro-E means for Citroën going beyond simple sports sponsorship and being present across the territory, in a widespread and direct way, in contact with fans throughout Italy, sharing values such as innovation, a popular spirit and environmental awareness that have been part of our identity for over 100 years”.

Giancarlo Fisichella, ex Formula 1 driver:
“I’ve ridden the Giro-E Enel twice, both times in Rome. This year I have commitments on that date, so I hope to attend another stage. It’s a wonderful initiative, with a wonderful team spirit that comes from having to maintain certain average speeds during the regularity trials. The pedal-assist bike is brilliant because it gives people who struggle to train or have physical problems the opportunity to go cycling, even in the mountains. Road safety is essential, whether you’re driving or cycling. I consider myself an ambassador for road safety and I try to make it clear, especially to young people, that you need to be extremely careful when driving, never get distracted, never use your cell phone while driving, and never drink and drive”.

Roberto Salvador, Director of the Giro-E Enel:
“We are preparing for the 18-stage journey of Giro-E Enel 2026, accompanied by Citroën with a fleet of electric and hybrid vehicles that will allow us to travel through villages and mountains with the lowest possible environmental impact. Today in Lainate, an event in true Giro-E style: plenty of content but also lots of fun for participants, thanks to the energy of Giancarlo Fisichella both behind the wheel and at the DJ console”.

The Stages

The eighth edition of Giro-E Enel will feature 18 stages (find out more about the stages of the Giro-E 2026), taking place on the roads and on the same days as the Giro d’Italia from 12 to 31 May, from Amantea (Cosenza) to Rome, covering a total of 1,091 kilometers, with an average of 60 kilometers per stage and over 20,000 meters of total elevation gain. The start of Giro-E Enel 2026 will be preceded by the opening of the Green Fun Village by Continental, which in every start city will offer entertainment and insights into the key themes of Giro-E: green and sustainable mobility, sustainability, and energy transition.

The Green Fun Village

The Green Fun Village will be inaugurated on Saturday, 9 May, in Catanzaro Lido with a major Opening Party featuring DJ Federico Scavo. The following day, Sunday, 10 May, the Green Fun Village will host the Giro-E Enel Teams Presentation (find out more about the Green Fun Village).

The group of captains

As always, the group of Captains is outstanding, made up of true icons of cycling – an essential element of Giro-E Enel in their role as mentors to participants, many of whom are experiencing road cycling for the first time. Great champions such as Gianni Bugno, Claudio Chiappucci, Igor Astarloa, Damiano Cunego and Andrea Tafi will be present, joined by former professionals Marta Bastianelli, Marco Canola and, for the first time, Giacomo Nizzolo. With them, participants will have the opportunity to interact and ride together on roads closed to traffic, providing an extraordinary experience for any cycling enthusiast.

Also taking part will be TV host Justine Mattera and several long-standing captains who embody the spirit of Giro-E, such as Amedeo Tabini (present since the very first stage of the inaugural 2018 edition), Emiliano Cantagallo, Maurizio Formichetti, as well as paracyclist and triathlete Andrea Pusateri and musician and producer Davide Ferrario.
